This article, therefore, aims to focus on the collective participation in<em> Arbaeen</em> march while dividing its scope into three layers: open, semi-hidden, and hidden to describe the unique and distinctive features of it, especially the subjective or mental world of participants. To achieve this goal, 17 interviews were conducted with Iranian servants and caretakers who have the highest level and scope of engagement with the phenomenon. The content of the interviews was analyzed by using a combination of thematic analysis and ideal typing techniques. Finally, after three coding steps, 13 sub-themes were extracted to explain the participants’ mental world, summarized and described under four main themes of states, images, schemas, and interpretations. در طول تاریخ تشیع؛ مناسک عاشورایی، آمیختگی شدیدی با وجدان جمعی پیروان این مذهب داشته است. در این میان آیین پیاده­روی اربعین که در سال‌های اخیر تحولات شگرفی را به خود دیده، یک پدیدۀ اجتماعی - فرهنگی ویژه و چندوجهی است که از زوایا و مناظر مختلف پژوهشی از جمله معنا و سازوکارهای درونی شایستۀ تأمل و توجه است. ازاین‌رو مقاله حاضر قصد دارد با تمرکز بر میدان مشارکت جمعی در پیاده­روی اربعین ضمن تفکیک این میدان به سه‌لایه آشکار، نیمه‌آشکار و پنهان به توصیف ویژگی­های متمایز و منحصربه‌فرد ابعاد و اجزای پنهان این میدان اجتماعی و یا به عبارتی جهان ذهنی مشارکت‌کننده بپردازد. برای نیل به این هدف 17 مصاحبه با خادمین و موکب­داران ایرانی به‌عنوان گروهی که بیشترین سطح و حوزۀ درگیری را با پدیده پیاده­روی اربعین دارا هستند؛ پیش گرفته شده است. بررسی و واکاوی محتوای مصاحبه­ها با کمک ترکیبی از روش‌های تحلیل مضمون و نمونه­سازی آرمانی صورت گرفت. در نهایت پس از سه مرحله کدگذاری، 13 مضمون فرعی در توضیح جهان ذهنی مشارکت‌کننده پیاده­روی اربعین استخراج شد که ذیل چهار مضمون اصلی ایستارها، ایماژها، انگاره­ها و تفسیرها جای‌گذاری و تشریح گردید. https://rc.isu.ac.ir/article_75524_a014b828cac09bdce2d5898d5c440b49.pdf
